We are now doing voluntary DNA Certification on our dogs.
This AKC program (see an example of a DNA Profile certificate below ) identifies each dog with their own unique genetic profile and thus ensures the integrity of AKC pedigrees. By DNA identification of both the parents of a litter as well as the puppies, it positively proves the offspring are actually from the mating as listed on the official AKC pedigrees. The AKC Board of Directors has asked that each breed's parent club encourage their members to utilize this tool. As 20+ year Alaskan Malamute Club of America members we are complying with this request and feel it is in the best interest of purebred dogs.
We have DNA certified all of our younger Mals, plus our older dogs (those still living) that have been used in our breeding program.
